I love language and culture - this topic (what people call soft drinks) has come up in my conversations several times.

Tim, I love this! And the timing is perfect.. we’re studying maps and globes, and just the other day we were looking at different types of maps and what they can tell you..
Also, just having moved to the midwest, my kids are sometimes calling it “pop”. The subject has come up in several conversations with California cousins and neighborhood kids here.
I can’t wait to show them.
Are you still in the US?
about 7 hours later:
Very cool, Tim. Interesting that most of the “coke” folks were in the South. I know, Atlanta is the home of those little red cans, but still.
about 10 hours later:
Jenny: Yes we are still in the US. We have been living in Fremont for over a month now.
Julie: This map surprised me because I always thought it was the Californians who called it coke.
In Ireland it can be called juice, lemonade, and fizzy drinks.
3 days later:
How long will you be in the states? Let us know if you end up in “pop” country… say hi to Lauri for me.
4 days later:
We’ll be here for about a year. It will be really fun if we do get to ‘pop’ country!
